Mid-coast shout out

I was so excited to see this on the Third Coast Surf Shop blog:

I am 99% sure that's my old surf spot on the lovely shores of Indiana, where I honed my skills and got stoked surfing in the snow.  Yes, I really miss it (even though I definitely complain that it is too cold to surf in the morning when it's below 50 here. Where did my winter skin go?!).

It seems the Chicago chapter of the Surfrider Foundation has put together a freakin' awesome 2011 calendar, so if you don't have a way to keep track of what day it is yet, you should probably buy one before you move on to any other website.  Also, they are doing a free screening of Unsalted at Patagonia on Clybourn on February 27; this would be a fun, eye-opening (assuming you don't surf the lakes right now), free event to check out for those of you in Chicago.  You can check out the trailer here.

Bandol

Near Bandol Winery, Provence, France

Testing, testing 123, testing: I'm learning about color management and converted these to two different profiles. Just checking to see if there is a visible difference when rendered on the web...

Looking for something to do in San Diego?

Quick PSA for anyone looking for something fun to do in San Diego - February is Museum Month! You can pick up a free pass at any Macy's register to 50% off admission to over 40 museums in San Diego county.  More info available here: http://www.sandiegomuseumcouncil.org/museum_month/

I came here from Chicago under the impression that San Diego was lacking in museums and culture. Definitely NOT the case.  You might have guessed that the Museum of Photographic Arts is my favorite, but I also love the Mingei Museum.  I'm really excited to check out the San Diego Museum of Art, Oceanside Museum of Art and Natural History Museum using my pass too.

Currently on view at MOPA.
Duane Michals, Rene Magritte in Bowler Hat, Multiple Exposure 1965 Gelatin silver print.
Gift of Frederick Gorree. From the Museum of Photographic Arts website.

We've got a rainy weekend coming up and this pass sounds like a great way to stay dry.

Near the Bandol Winery, Provence, France

Happy Valentine's Day!  I wish I was with Greg, standing where I was when I took this picture instead of going through another regular old Monday.

If you could teleport yourself anywhere right now, where would you go?

Foam Magazine

Have you recently caught yourself thinking, "Gee, I sure wish I knew more about Liz Lantz. She just doesn't talk about herself enough in her blog posts!"?

Hee hee, I didn't think so :)  But here is a link to an interview Foam Magazine Online did with me, in case you are looking for a quick read: http://foammagazine.com/articles/435-surf-photographer-liz-lantz

Thanks to Foam for helping spread the word about Sirens!  I've been shooting quite a bit for it and will have some new work to post soon.  I want to remind you that I'm very open to feedback, so if you have any thoughts you want to share with me on my work, don't be shy.  It's been a long time since I've had a good critique and I'd love to hear what you think.
